Client: Landmark Theatres
Size: 20,000 sq/ft
Project Type: Entertainment

AIA Award Winner

Built in 1898, the 5 screen Sunshine Cinema was formerly the Houston Hippodrome motion picture theatre and a Yiddish vaudeville house but for 50 years it had been shuttered and served as a warehouse. Landmark restored the theatre back to its artistic roots offering the art-house film lover five  state-of-the-art screens dedicated to first-run independent and foreign film as well as non-traditional studio programming. In addition to exceptional presentation and amenities, the theatre offers attractions such as a "Japanese" rock garden and  exceptional city views from the third story glass annex "bridge to nowhere". The renovation of the Sunshine Cinema continues Landmark's long tradition of building and restoring unique structures.
