The Santa Monica Wall, West Los Angeles

Client: City of Los Angeles Public Works
Size: 1,500 ft
Project Type: Public
Status: Completed

As part of a local revitalization effort, the Santa Monica Boulevard Transit Parkway Project reconfigured a 2.5 mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard between Interstate 405 and the border of Beverly Hills. The project required a 1,500' long retaining wall to accommodate a significant grade change between the upper and lower level roadways. This infrastructure project was viewed as an opportunity to solve a structural challenge while creating an urban marker in this area of the city. Clients included Cal-Trans, the City of Los Angeles and the County of Los Angeles.
